Penelope Needlework Embroidery Panel.

Vintage needlework canvas entitled 'Stuart Landscape' featuring various animals, birds, insects and flora.

Beautifully hand embroidered in a traditional 'Stuart' design dating to the 1600s. 

Penelope embroidery canvas / kits have been available since the late 1800's. This piece is believed to date circa 1930s.

An illustration of this pattern can be seen on the front cover of an old embroidery book called 'Traditional Embroidery' by Penelope in collaboration with the Royal School of Embroidery' which dates from the late 1930s.

Measures approx. 15.00" x 11.50" at the creased edges - the canvas edges are folded back  

Very good condition overall - the panel has been previously housed under glass within an old frame which has protected the fabric and silk colours.
