Victorian Glass Mourning Brooch-Circa Mid 1800s

Mourning Pin Brooch.

Black glass cabochon with a motif of gilt and tiny diamonds to centre, mounted on an unmarked gold base and pin.

Believed to date to the mid 1800s 

Size: Diameter approx 20 mm (0.75")

Pre-owned, used.
Some chipping to the black glass surface and some of the tiny diamonds are missing.
The pin appears to have been crudely soldered to the base of the cabochon - see photos. It may be that the brooch may have been a marriage of two pieces of jewellery to make up a mourning brooch.
No marks to the metalware but tested as higher than 9ct
