Victorian Rosewood Jewellery / Sewing Box-Mother of Pearl Inlays-Circa Mid / Late 1800s-A/F-For Restoration

Antique wooden storage box for jewellery or sewing tools etc dating to the 19th century and requiring some restoration.

Rectangular shaped with Rosewood veneers and Mother of Pearl (MOP) decorations to lid and front panel.

Brass hinges in good condition and working order.

Lock (but no key)

Measures approx 10.00 Inches x 6.625 Inches x 3.825 Inches (25.20 cms x 17.00 cms x 9.50 cms)

Pre-owned used antique.

Sturdy box with veneers in generally good condition - with a couple of small sections missing to the lower corners / base of the front and back panels .

Externally: Some surface / water marking to lid and partial loss to some of the decorative stringing. The MOP discs are all present and in good condition.

Internally: the original inner tray is no longer present and the paper lining is showing age wear and tear.

There is shrinkage splitting to the base panel which can be seen externally and internally.

Ideal restoration project.
