Antique French Jewellery Box / Glove Box-Victorian Era Circa Mid 1800s

Antique Leather Covered Jewellery or Glove Box With Ornate Decorations To Lid.

Superb antique box dating to circa mid 1800s and believed to be of French origin, 

Rectangular in shape with a plinthed base and hinged lid.

Made from wood with a black tooled leather covering to exterior surfaces, ornate pierced brass decorations to each corner of the lid - an elaborate silver plated blank monogram cartouche to centre with brass pin fittings - similar escutcheon plate to the lock key hole.

The interior is richly lined throughout with the original button padded blue silk fabric - which is in very good condition, no tears.

Brass button studs to base.

Long piano hinge to lid.

Height: Approx 3.50 Inches (9.00 cms)

This fine box is in very good / excellent antique condition - some light surface scuffing and age toning to the the silk lining all to be expected considering its 150+ years age and usage

There is a lock fitting but no key present and the keeper plate to the lid is missing.
